Political parties, including the Congress, CPI(M) and CPI, besides journalists will stage a joint protest here on March 18 against the attack on a Tamil television channel by a fringe right-wing outfit over a show on "Mangal Sutra".
"A massive protest demonstration will be held to condemn the attack on Puthiya Thalaimurai and violence against the right to freedom of expression," CPI(M) said in a statement here today.
Motorcycle-borne men hurled two tiffin boxes packed with crackers after lighting the wick which burst inside the premises of the channel's local office early yesterday but no one was injured and no damage to property was caused in the attack.
Six persons who were allegedly involved in the attack were arrested. Jeyam Pandian, organiser of the Hindu Youth Sena organisation, who allegedly instigated them, surrendered in a court in Madurai.
