Raj, having given a string of hits to Bengali film industry merging content with masala, turned up as the show-stopper of global 'FFACE' ramp, first time for a director, flanked by achievers in varied walks of life from international footballer Chima Okerie to contemporary Bengali folk rockstar-turned lyricist-turned music director Surojit with city models and upcoming actors sashaying the ramp.
"Industry has become far more positive than ever before and full time actors are also doing up modelling stints.
He, however, felt the number of fashion shows/events celebrating the success of Tollywood is still few and far between here.
Football veteran Chima, loath to call himself as an outsider having been part of the city and its social life for years, said "This is for the first time I turn up as a show-stopper in a fashion extravaganza in my life. The fashion scenario here has grown beyond imagination. ' "Passing through a phase Kolkata now has a night life not known to people outside," he said.
"It was a fatafati (amazing) experience," Sayani, back from Sweden where her films were screened before the European film buff, said.
"FFACE is a platform created for the young, fresh and talented in the field of film, fashion," having in its core committee all prominent city socialites with Raj, the blockbuster trend setter with debut 'Chirodini', as one of the mentors.
