An absconding accused in the case relating to the killing of a close aide of expelled DMK leader M K Alagiri surrendered before a court Friday.

The fourth judicial magistrate remanded Sabha Rathinam to judicial custody.

Police said Rathinam was absconding for more than five years after the killing of 'Pottu' Suresh, Alagiri's aide, on January 31, 2013.

Though police arrested several members of the gang responsible for the killing, two accused--'Attack' Pandi and Rathinam managed to escape.

Police arrested Pandi in 2015 at Mumbai and brought him here. He has been lodged in the Palayamkottai prison. His bail plea has been rejected by the court five times.
