Shah became the Chief Minister for the record third time by securing 86 votes in the Sindh assembly.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the second largest party of the province, had also fielded Sardar Ahmed for the Chief Minister's slot who managed to bag 48 votes while Imtiaz Sheikh of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) obtained 18 votes during the May 11 general elections.
The PPP leader told the media that he would not disappoint the people during his third tenure as the Chief Minister.
PPP leaders Agha Siraj Durrani was elected as the speaker, while Shehla Raza took oath as the deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly with an overwhelming majority.
