In an unforgettable night by the Nile, singer Prabuddha Raha, interdisciplinary artiste Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee and pianist Soumitra Sengupta paid tributes to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 157th birth anniversary today.

The trio regaled the audience with their show 'Music Mind', in which they performed songs penned by the legendary writer-poet as part of the Tagore festival here.

Raha, with his group, took the audience on an emotional journey as they performed a repertoire of Tagore's songs that are influenced by Western and world music.

"Tagore was fond of music by Chopin and Mozart and other great composed and all this finally resulted in his own music, the music he created is neither Indian nor Western. But it is truly international in nature. 'Music Mind' is a journey to explore Tagore as a composer of world music," Sengupta said.

The songs the band played were - "E Monihar Amaey", "Boro Asha Kore", "Kotobaro Bhebechhinu", "Bujhi Elo Bujhi Elo Ore Pran" among others.

The tracks were sung in Bengali but the English translation was made available to the audience on the screens.

Large audience at India House witnessed the show and the group is set to perform in Alexandria tomorrow.

Chatterjee served as the narrator at the event as he presented a discussion on music between Tagore and Albert Einstein.

The concert was also part of a farewell reception for Ambassador of India to Egypt, Sanjay Bhattacharyya, who finished his three years mission in the country.
