Pranab Patnaik to get Jayadeva Puraskar

Prominent Odia singer Pranab Kishore Patnaik will be awarded the prestigious 'Jayadeva Puraskar' for his life time contribution to the regional film industry.
The award for Patnaik was announced by state Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, who declared the 28th Odisha State Film Awards here.
Patnaik is considered one of the best singers of Odia music industry, who has dominated the industry for more than five decades. He has lent his voice to various segments of music like Odishi, folk, devotional, bhajans, semi classical, traditional, Hindi geet and gazal.
"I am the first singer to get the Jaydev Award. So far film actors were getting this prestigous award. It is due to the blessings of the people of Odisha that I have been selected for the award. I am grateful to the jury members," the 79-year-old Patnaik said.

Panda said 'Chini' will get the Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami Samman in the best film category.
The government has announced various awards in 27 categories this year.

Samaresh Routray and Sangeeta Mohapatra(Lipi) have been adjudged the best actor and best actress for the films 'Namarda' and 'Mimansa' respectively. The film 'Namarda' has also won the best director award for Ajay Rath.
Tarang Cine Productions Tu Kahibu Na Mu has won awards in three categories. Goodly Rath has been adjudged the best music director and Sashak the best playback singer award for the movie, the minister said.
Late Minaketan Das and Mahesweta Ray have won the best supporting actor and actress awards respectively.

The 5th State Tele awards 2016 were also announced today. Satya Ranjan Mishra and Satyabrata Panigrahy will receive the best comedian award for popular comedy show Dekh Khabar Rakh Nazar of Kalinga TV. Ayaskant Swain will get award for best screenplay for the same show, he said.
Dharitri Khandual has bagged the special jury award for Kadambini productions film Tapoi, while 'Sindurabindu' will receive the best tele serial award.
Swetlana will get best actress award and Choudhry Satyabrat Das the best actor award for 'Sindurabindu', he added.
