The Hyderabad-based aeronautical training facility of the aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney has received the certification from the country's civil aviation regulator.
The centre, which was launched in 2015, is now authorised to offer training sessions, approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), to the aircraft engineers and the technicians on the V2500-A5 engines.
It is only the third such facility set up by P&W in the world, after the US and China.
"The training centre will provide instruction in general engine familiarisation, line and base maintenance, and borescope inspection," Country Manager, Pratt & Whitney Palash Roy Chowdhury said.
The centre has a capacity of 5,000 student days per year, which will gradually increase to 9,000 student days per year, he added.
It is also expected to offer courses on PW1100G-JM and other models from the PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) family of the engines, an official statement said.
There are over 100 aircraft in India powered by V2500 engines made by Pratt & Whitney. The company has also started delivering its advanced GTF engines for Airbus planes, ordered by IndiGo and Go Air.
