The CPI(M) today demanded that the Ministry of Home Affairs should look into the reports claiming that Saradha funds had been "used to fund terror acts against India".
"We feel the reports that Saradha funds were siphoned off to Bangladesh need to be looked into by the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is a matter of grave security concern and it needs to be seen who are behind it," senior CPI(M)leader Sujan Chakraborty said while addressing a rally here.
Chakraborty also questioned the ethics of state Law Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya in organising the recent sit-in demonstration outside the CBI office, alleging that the CBI probe had been politicised to malign Trinamool Congress.
"This is a mockery and shame for the democracy that the Law Minister of the state is protesting against the CBI probe which has been ordered by the court. It is a shame. Who are they trying to save and what are they protesting about?" Chakraborty wondered.
He said the CPI-M fully supported the CBI inquiry and "we feel that the investigation is moving on the right track".
"The SIT formed by the state government was a complete farce," he also observed.
Students, workers, women and youth organisations affiliated to the CPI(M) also took out a rally in the city to protest against the Saradha scam.
