Projects worth Rs 275 cr approved for Krishna, heritage

Government has approved projects worth Rs 275 crore for Krishna circuit in Rajasthan and Haryana and heritage circuit on Mahatma Gandhi theme in Gujarat under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.
Tourism Ministry gave a nod to the projects, amounting to Rs 195 crore for Krishna Circuit in Haryana and Rajasthan, while projects worth Rs 80 crore were approved for Heritage Circuit on Mahatma Gandhi theme in Gujarat, a Tourism Ministry official said.
The projects were given a green signal at a meeting chaired by Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi yesterday in the presence of senior officials from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana governments, he added.

Under Krishna Circuit, projects worth about Rs 98 crore have been approved for Rajasthan, while it is worth about Rs 96 crore for Haryana.
Tourism Ministry has identified 13 theme-based circuits for infrastructure development across the country to attract tourists under Swadesh Darshan scheme.
In Rajasthan, the projects have been approved for the sites at Nathdwara, Jaipur and Sikar under Krishna circuit.
The projects envisaged infrastructural development of the sites with special emphasis on audio visual and projection show, site illumination, construction of tourist facilitation centres, and yatri sheds, among others.
Sites located in and around Kurukshetra in Haryana have been included in Krishna Circuit, while the Heritage circuit of Gujarat focuses on Gandhi theme, covering sites at Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Porbandar, Bardoli and Dandi, the official said.
