Protest against inclusion of almanac in weather forecast guide

Activists of Dravidar Viduthalai Iyyakkam (DVK) staged a demonstration here today in protest against Tamil Nadu Agricultural University for coming out with a weather forecast guide which include prediction based on Almanac.
Nearly 70 activists of the outfit, led by its president Kolathur Mani, held the agitation alleging that scientists of the University have prepared the guide based on 14 almanacs, with prediction by an astrologer in the region dominating four pages.
There was a separate department to forecast the weather and rain pattern and the University should immediately remove the almanac forecast from the guide and take action against those officials responsible for this, Mani said.

The varsity should also take steps to come out with weather forecast based on science for the benefit of the farmers, he said.
