Protesting Cong MLAs asked to vacate Assembly premises

The Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare, who is leading a sit-in protest of the Congress MLAs on the premises of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly since Tuesday, was tonight issued a notice to vacate the campus immediately.
The notice, issued by the Director of Security, Vidhan Sabha, Arvind Kumar Raghuwanshi said the premises cannot be used for political purposes as the House was adjourned sine die.
Katare and the Congress members are holding the protest on the issue of providing relief to farmers affected by rain and hailstorm.
The copy of the notice was provided by the Congress to media persons.

Referring to the Assembly's rule 271 (b), the notice said, "The House cannot be used for any other purpose except for Assembly's sittings. Besides as per the Speaker's permanent order and as per 94 (2) provisions also, the ongoing protest is prohibited inside the Assembly premises."
The notice said no member is allowed to observe hunger strike, sit-in, protest or organising any religious function within the estate of the House as per rules and procedures.

It said the ongoing agitation has badly affected the work of the Assembly Secretariat and the protesters are being asked to vacate the premises forthwith.

Congress today intensified its protest on the issue of compensation for rain and hailstorm-hit farmers by observing an indefinite hunger strike in the well of the Assembly.
The protest entered the third day today with Congress members showing no sign of relenting on the issue.
When contacted, Katare said their agitation will continue as planned until the government fulfils all their demands.
