Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Anil Joshi moved the resolution saying under the transplantation of Human organs Act 1994, some institutions have been authorised for the transplant of kidney, liver, etc of patients suffering from related diseases.
"Under the Act, approval is granted for transplantation of human organs for the benefit of patients," Joshi said.
He said Parliament has enacted the Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment) Act 2011 and the Central government has framed the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues rules 2014.
Joshi said that "it appears to this legislative assembly to be desirable that the Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment) Act 2011 and the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues rules 2014 should be adopted in Punjab."
