Punjab raises limit for setting up dwelling units

The Punjab government has given nod for increasing the permissible limit for setting up dwelling units from 60 to 75 per acre for multi-storeyed housing projects within the municipal limits of the state, said Punjab Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi here today.
This decision will go a long way in sustaining overall feasibility of various housing projects which are struck up mid-way and not serving the intended purpose for which they were to come up, the Minister said.
Since small housing units were not being constructed because of the existing ceiling which led to the construction of bigger units at higher cost, making them out of reach for common man, he added.
