People's Welfare Front today demanded that the sedition case against Jawaharlal Nehru University students union president Kanhaiya Kumar, be withdrawn.

Addressing reporters here, the convenor of the PWF and CPI Puducherry State committee, R Viswanathan alleged that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre had been gagging the voice of the progressive minded student outfits.

"Filing sedition case against the president of JNU students union is highly objectionable and the case should be withdrawn immediately," he said.

"Healthy fiscal planning is totally absent in Puducherry," he said.
