The court also allowed a similar plea filed by Jagan's close aide and his auditor V Vijay Sai Reddy, another accused in the case, who sought exemption from the appearance citing ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate.
In the petition filed through his counsel yesterday, Jagan said that being an MP he has to attend the ongoing Parliament session where the Telangana Bill is likely to be tabled.
Meanwhile, the court permitted the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to have copies of chargesheets filed by CBI in the case against Vijay Sai, to inquire into the alleged violations made by him.
A chartered accountant, Vijay Sai, served as financial advisor for a group of companies owned by Jagan.
The ICAI told the court that it has a committee in place to conduct internal probe against "errant" auditors and has already launched a probe into the dealings of Vijay Sai.
