Frontman Thom Yorke revealed that his band was once asked to write an original song for the film before the producers went with Sam Smith's "Writing's on the Wall", reported Aceshowbiz.
The band's aptly-titled "Spectre" was left on the cutting room floor until recently, when it released it online as a Christmas gift to fans.
"Last year we were asked to write a tune for Bond movie Spectre. Yes we were," the band's frontman Thom Yorke revealed in some Twitter posts he sent out on Christmas Day. "It didn't work out... But became something of our own which we love very much ... As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it. Merry Christmas. May the force be with you."
Many listeners think the filmmakers behind the film should've picked this Radiohead song over Smith's number, which was met with a lot of negative reviews despite being the first "James Bond" soundtrack to reach No 1 on the UK's singles chart, something that not even Adele's "Skyfall" could achieve.
