The seating scheme on the dais for a function to be attended by Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has sparked a row of sorts between party leaders in Punjab with Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa saying the party high command was calling the shots in the matter.
Rahul is to be the chief guest while union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will lay the foundation stone for a Post- Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) satellite centre near Sangrur.
The event, already in the centre of a controversy after Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal alleged he was denied an invitation to it, seemed to have kicked up more dust when former Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh said he had found out he was not going to be given a seat on the dais along with other party heavyweights.
But dismissing Amarinder's charges, Partap today told reporters at the residence of Sanaur MLA Laal Singh here that he was "clueless about the seating arrangement as it was decided by the party high command in New Delhi... No list was sent by us".
"I don't know where my seat is at tomorow's function," he said.
Amarinder had alleged that state Congress leaders had drawn up the seating arrangement and omitted him from the dais.
The former CM has, meanwhile, announced his inability to attend the function citing a court hearing in Mohali tomorrow.
Amarinder has claimed that nine leaders from the party will share the dais with Rahul although his name has been left out.
