Rain, thunderstorm in many parts of Himachal Pradesh

Rain and thunderstorm lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh while high-altitude tribal areas witnessed snowfall which led to sharp fall in temperatures.
Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district received 3 cm of snow while Rohtang Pass recorded 10 cm of snow.
Several areas of the state witnessed rainfall and Dharampur was the wettest recording 39 mm of rain.
Solan and Manali received 24 mm and 22 mm rain respectively, followed by 18 mm in Salooni, 15.4 mm in Dharamsala, 15 mm in Kangra, 13 mm in Kasauli, 9 mm in Shimla, 8 mm in Mandi and 6 mm in Palampur.
Storm caused massive damage to wheat crop and apple trees in the higher hills. Lightning damaged electronic gadgets in several parts of Shimla, while gusty winds blew off roofs of Kachha houses and uprooted trees.
The mercury dropped marginally and Una recorded maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius while Nahan and Sundernagar registered a high of 30.2 degrees Celsius and 26.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
Bhuntar recorded a high of 24 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan 23.5 degrees Celsius, Shimla 20 degrees Celsius, Manali 14 degrees Celsius and Kalpa 10.6 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures also dropped by a few notches and Keylong recorded a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius while Kalpa and Manali recorded minimum temperatures of 4.6 degrees Celsius and 6.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Shimla 7.9 degrees Celsius and Dharamsala 11.2 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted rains and thundershowers at isolated places in the mid and lower hills during next week.
