Rains on in north, 1 killed in Uttarakhand

Monsoon rains continued to lash many parts of north India even as weather remained hot and sultry in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
One person was killed when a boulder from a mountain hit the car he was travelling in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, which witnessed landslides triggered by showers.
Humidity eased in Delhi giving respite to people from the unbearable weather witnessed in the last few days even as mercury remained above normal levels.
According to the Met department, humidity levels oscillated between 53 and 77 per cent, down from the above-80 per cent levels recorded in the last few days.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 36.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average, while the minimum was 27 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal.
Sultry weather conditions persisted across Punjab and Haryana even as mercury showed no signs of coming down, causing much discomfort to people in the region.

Despite light showers in parts of Chandigarh, the maximum temperature in the joint capital settled at 35.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, the MeT report said.
Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the region at 38 degrees Celsius, while Bhiwani recorded 37 degrees Celsius and Ambala registered 34.6 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum settled at 36.8 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana recorded 35.5 degrees Celsius, and Patiala registered 36 degrees Celsius.
