Replying to the debate on demands for grant for the home department in the assembly, Kataria said the police establishment is taking control of hardcore criminals and claimed that crime rate in the state has reduced as compared to the previous year.
He also announced that the government would raise various allowances for the police, jail and civil defence departments.
Presenting the crime data, he said that in the year 2015 the crime rate came down by 5.86 per cent as compared to 2014.
"Crime control is our priority that included control over hardcore criminals, road accidents, crime against women, child and weaker sections. Strengthening of police lines administration, expansion of training capacity, improvement in intelligence gathering, use of modern technology in crime control are also being focused," he said.
