Justice Ajay Rastogi granted bail to probationary IPS officer Ajay Singh, who had been arrested by the ACB on June 22 for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh.

ACB arrested Singh on a charge sheet filed without a mandatory prosecution sanction from Home department as required under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the officer's lawyer said.

He argued that the arrest was a malafide exercise of power and that ACB had tried to circumvent the law.

After hearing the arguments, Rastogi granted bail to Singh.
