Replying after a debate on grants for the Home and Jail departments, state Rural Development and Panchayti Raj Minister Gulabchand Kataria announced that the acid attack victims in the state will now get a compensation of Rs 3 lakh, instead of Rs 2 lakh.
He also announced a grant of Rs 225 lakh for Rajasthan Police Benevolent Fund, which was Rs 199 lakh last year. He said Rs 30 lakh will be given as Rajasthan Police Sports fund, an amount which is Rs 5 lakh more than last year.
Kataria also made other announcements for the modernisation of police force and its welfare.
Presenting the crime figures, the Minister claimed that the crime rate has come down in the last six months.
Comparing the current crime situation in the state with the situation during the Congress government, Kataria alleged that the crime rate was higher during the previous government.
