Kohli is the Chancellor of the State Universities.
Kanhere, currently posted as Exam Controller of Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has been appointed as the VC of MP Bhoj Open University, a Public Relation Department official said.
He will remain in the office till further order or up to the age of 65, whichever is earlier, the official said.
Kanhere will succeed Professor Tariq Zafar as the VC, he added.
