Relationships-Cuisine merge in new Tolly flick

Celebrating the quintessential foodie in every Bengalee, IFFI-feted 'Jodi Love Dile Naa Prane' maker Sudeshna Roy is making a cuisine-themed flick Bitnoon.
"Bitnoon talks about relationships and cuisine where the main characters talk about 'Tangra aar Pabda Maach', 'Kasha Mangsher Jhol na Chicken Curry', the 'Cross Connection' maker told PTI today on the sidelines of a culinary session at Mastercraft, country's first organised master class event involving experts in various art fields.
The journalist-turned-director recalled how cuisine had been an important theme in Bengali films virtually retaining the aroma from kitchen on the screen and said Bitnoon will keep that tradition alive.

"Remember the classic 'Galpo Holeo Sotti' where the cook played an important role in the relationship of the couple warming the cockles of heart through his culinary skill. In 'Bitnoon' our hero cribs to eat 'Puishak Palong Shak' after marriage" and there is a hilarious fight between the couple, she said.
Sudeshna earlier took part in the culinary discourse initiated by celebrated chef Sanchayita Bhattacharya Alam which talked about how ingredients do travel all over the world
in the Mastercraft exchange.

"We talked about it how food becomes part of our existence," she said.
Sanchayita, who beautifully defined kitchen "as a metaphor and a hub of politics mirroring love, hate, anger, jealousy, everything love works out," said she was against tinkering between recipes in the name of fusion.

"If you put pasta into posto that will not be fusion, but only confusion and widely-travelled Bengalees are now getting more eclectic as well as rooted about their cuisine," she said.
The Masterclass, which also featured designer Sarbari Dutta, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, actor-director Churni Ganguly, was organised by Phreedom 4 Ever.
