Jharkhand government has requested Reliance Power to reconsider its decision of terminating the power purchase agreement for the proposed 3,960 MW Tilaya Ultra-Mega Power Project in the state.
On the direction of Chief Minister Raghubar Das, state Energy Secretary S K G Rahate sent a letter of request yesterday to the Jharkhand Integrated Power Limited, Reliance Power's special purpose vehicle for the project, an official release said here.
The letter urged Reliance Power to reconsider its decision as the project was in the interest of the state and the nation.
It said that the state had taken speedy initiatives in giving clearances to forest land in just four months, showing the government's keenness in setting up power plant.
Reliance Power had pulled out from the project last week terminated the PPA following that it alleged delay in land acquisition by the state and issues relating to captive coal blocks and related infrastructure.
The state government had on April 29 termed the reasons cited by the private sector as "doubtful" and "surprising" as the state had resolved important issues and many other issues were in advanced stage.
