With party Madhepura MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav organising rallies doctors alleging that they are charging high fees, the RJD has distanced itself from it and said its not a party programme.
Unmindful of voice expressed by some partymen that the party name was being dragged in the agitation which the MP was carrying through a non-party organisation "Yuva Shakti", Pappu Yadav today described Lalu Prasad as "supreme" leader and said his stir was giving "expansion" to his ideology of working for the poor.
RJD spokesman Mundrika Singh Yadav told PTI that its not a party programme. "But, any individual is free to launch a stir against some wrong in personal capacity," he said.
The Spokesman said that party has officially announced a "Mahadharna" on December 4 here against Narendra Modi government's "anti-people" policies which would be led by Lalu Prasad.
"If there is any programme by any wing of the RJD it would be announced officially," he said.
He, however, denied reports of party issuing any showcause or seeking explanation from Pappu Yadav on this count.
Pappu Yadav, along with his Congress MP wife Ranjeeta Ranjan, held public rally at Saharsa last week and at Madhepura yesterday against doctors charging high fee.
Pappu Yadav in a statement issued here today said that "some partymen who neither have public support nor commitment to ideology are speaking against him. Such people are afraid of my struggle and that is why they are raising questions on my stir."
Pappu Yadav praised Lalu Prasad and said he was promoting
ideology of Ram Manohar Lohia, Jayprakash Narayan and Karpoori Thakur.
He said if required he would meet Lalu Prasad and acquaint him with work he has been doing for poor, deprived and weaker sections of the society.
Yuva Shakti was an organisation which was fighting for poor by raising their voice.
Pappu Yadav has prescribed a fee of Rs 200 to Rs 300 to doctors.
Bihar chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Bihar Health Services Association (BHASA) have taken strong exception to Pappu Yadav's diatribe against doctors and has threatened to launch protest against him.
