The incident took place near Bakraur village within the limits of Bodh Gaya police station when a bank employee and a guard were carrying Rs 25 lakh to a nationalised bank's Itawa Bazar branch, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Magadh Range, Saurabh Kumar said.
The criminals came in a car without any number plate and waylaid the duo. They also shot and injured the driver of the vehicle in which the two were travelling and fled with the cash, the DIG said.
The police also seized the weapon used in the crime from them, he said.
The incident came a day after Rs 60 lakh was looted from a cash van on National Highway 30A near Patna.
Kumar said preliminary investigations have revealed that the criminals arrested in the Gaya loot case provided vital information regarding the Patna cash van loot incident.
