Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said that a Rs 40,000 crore package will be put together for long-term agricultural development in the state.
Speaking at a function here, Fadnavis said while recently the farmers had faced natural calamities and the government had announced a relief package, it was also aiming to introduce some long-term measures for the agriculture, such as promotion of micro-irrigation, crop-insurance, etc.
His government was also planning to delegate some powers with the Chief Minister's office to the the divisional commissioners or collectors through decentralisation, so that people need not go to Mantralaya for local issues, he said.
BJP MP Harischandra Chavan, MLAs Rahul Aher, Apurva Hiray, Devyani Pharande and Seema Hiray were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, MNS corporator Satish Sonawane today joined BJP in the Chief Minister's presence.
