RSP registers outstanding performance, saves cost

Electronics and Electrical Services (E&ES) Department of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has registered an outstanding performance achieving cost saving of Rs 4.71 crore.
Apart from its routine work the department carried out various innovative jobs in repairs, innovations and attending breakdowns, RSP said in a release today.
The department executed 1363 repair jobs for electronic cards, drives, protective relays and weighing equipments. An estimated total cost saving of Rs 4.71 crores was achieved by the department last fiscal, it said.
The major jobs undertaken by the department include the installation and commissioning of six CCTV Systems at the various gates of the plant. With this all the gates of the plant have been brought under CCTV Surveillance, it said.

The required numbers of drive regulation cards were developed for restoration of R2 main drive of HSM. Testing of Protection System related to Power Systems and Motors was completed at the Meghatuburu Mines. The department collective was also actively involved with the commissioning and testing of equipments in the new modernisation units.
12 VVVF Drives were repaired for Coke Oven, while 8 PLC S7-300 analog cards were repaired for CCD booster pumps. Search Lights were repaired for Gua Iron Ore Mines.
Commissioning Test was carried out for ICT-7 at MSDS-3 and ten matching Amplifier PCB were made for CCM-I. 23 Commercial Weigh Bridges were maintained and facilitated for stamping by Department of Legal Metrology (Govt. Of Odisha). CCTVs were also installed at critical locations inside the plant through internal resources and expertise.

Meanwhile, Ore Bedding & Blending Plant (OBBP) of RSP also created a new record in wagon unloading on July 27. The OBBP Collective notched up highest ever figures in Wagon Unloading of 538 wagons on the day, it added.
