The party MLAs were given demonstration and some general instructions routinely, AICC Secretary K B Krishna Murthy, who is involved in overseeing party affairs in AP, told reporters.
To a query, he said the party does not fear any cross-voting.
According to Congress sources, 12 out of the 155 party MLAs could not attend the meeting.
The voting would take place in the assembly buildings tomorrow.
Meanwhile, main Opposition Telugu Desam has decided to abstain from the election as "it is not acceptable for the party to vote for UPA's Pranab Mukherjee." The party could not support the other candidate P A Sangma as he is supported by the "communal" BJP.
