The rupee resumed lower at 61.90 per dollar as against the last closing level of 61.85 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market. It recovered to 61.81 before quoting at 61.84 at 1045 hours.
It hovered in a range of 61.81 and 61.92 per dollar during the morning deals.
The rupee had gained 19 paise to close at 61.85 against the dollar yesterday.
In New York, the dollar rose against the yen yesterday, as investors appeared to be reassured by news that the Russian troops taking part in combat exercises near Ukraine's border would be returning back to their bases.
