The rupee opened higher by 4 paise at 64.98 per dollar as against yesterday's closing level of 65.02 per dollar at the Interbank Forex Market (FOREX).
The Indian unit hovered between 64.98 and 64.9050 per dollar during morning deals. It was quoting at 64.92 per dollar at 1025 hrs.
At overseas, the dollar edged down early today as attention turned to who would be the next head of the US central bank.
The BSE Sensex trading higher by 136.78 points, or 0.42 per cent, at 32,643.50 at 1030 hrs.
