Demanding the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for failing to control the situation, SAD (Delhi) president Paramjit Singh Sarna also sought a CBI probe into the sacrilege incident.
"We want President's Rule to be imposed in Punjab. The Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal have lost the trust of the people in Punjab and they should resign immediately," he said.
Charging the state government with being responsible for the incident of sacrilege in Bargari village in Faridkot, the party demanded a thorough probe by CBI to inquire into it.
"Badal has allowed the situation to become tense in Punjab. The Akalis want to divert the attention of people from core issues concerning the state, including the farmers," Sarna alleged.
Workers of the party protested in front of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) office here and raised slogans against Badal and the Akali-BJP government in Punjab.
