Samsung unveils Sports Ratnas at Asiad send-off

With 'Our Games, Our Pride' as the underlying theme, electronics giant Samsung today unveiled its 12 'Sports Ratnas', including Olympic bronze-medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, at the official send-off ceremony for the athletes bound for the upcoming Asian Games.
The Samsung Sports Ratna program will support 12 athletes who will represent India across different sports disciplines at the Games scheduled to take place in Incheon, South Korea from September 19 to October 4. The Samsung Ratna program was instituted in 1998 for Olympics and Asian Games.
B D Park, President and CEO, Samsung South West Asia and IOA President N Ramachandran, today signed an MoU announcing Samsung as the Official Partner - Asian Games 2014 for the Indian contingent.

Speaking about Samsung's continued support to sports in India, Ramachandran said, "We are delighted that Samsung has made a commitment to support the 17th Asian Games. We are extremely proud of our long standing association and are confident that Samsung support will further encourage athletes to deliver their best."
Now in its fifth edition, the Samsung Sports Ratna program has supported 29 top performing Indian athletes till date. The Samsung Sports Ratna athletes for 17th Asian Games are from five disciplines.

Shooting: Manavjit Sandhu, Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Malaika Goel
Wrestlers: Yogeshwar Dutt, Vinesh Phogat, Babita Kumari

Boxing: Devendro Singh, Mary Kom
Badminton: P V Sindhu, Parupalli Kashyap
Archery: Deepika Kumari.
