A bench headed by Justice T S Thakur took strong note of the fact that Balbir Singh Bali, whose bail was cancelled by the apex court on October 26, 2013, neither surrendered nor was he arrested by Haryana Police.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had granted bail to the former lawmaker in the case.
The Superintendent of Police of Rohtak, who was earlier asked to appear in person and explain the non-compliance of the order, today came and informed the SC bench that the accused has surrendered.
It was hearing a contempt petition filed by one Sita Ram, the complainant in the murder case, alleging that the accused was not surrendering despite the court's order.
