Dipankar Sharma, Director of Divya Jyoti Institute of Engineering and Technology, today confirmed that 170 Naga students left college on Sunday.
He, however, stressed that the institute didn't ask anyone to leave and it was a decision taken by the students.
"In fact, I suggested them to pay their pending fees in monthly instalments of Rs 10,000 but the students expressed their inability in making these payments too," Sharma said.
According to the students, even though the Centre has provided the funds, Nagaland government has not released the same this year, he said.
Out of the 170 students, 115 had taken admission last year while the rest joined this year, he said, adding, about 12 students are still in the institute.
