Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Nazir Ahmed Laway (PDP) said the number of scholarships are dwindling.
He said a scheme was envisaged in 2010 for providing 5,000 scholarships to students from the state in institutions all over the country for enhancing their employment opportunities.
In 2013, 3,747 students were given the scholarships and in 2014 their numbers were reduced to only 1,000 and no scholarships are being given to them even though around 12,000 crore was earmarked for the scheme.
Supporting him, Sharad Yadav (JD-U) said it was an important issue and the initiative was taken for solving the problem of Jammu and Kashmir and government should take it seriously and take some action for integrating those from Jammu and Kashmir.
Naresh Agarwal (SP) also supported the issue saying such ill feelings should not crop up in students from Jammu and Kashmir as it will not be good for the country.
Responding to the requests from members, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said, "The issue is important,. The government should take note of it and take action.
