Schoolboy's murder: CBI gives clean chit to bus conductor

The CBI today gave a clean chit to bus conductor Ashok Kumar, arrested earlier by the Gurgaon Police in the case of killing of a seven-year-old boy at a private school in Bhondsi here.
In its charge sheet filed before a Gurgaon court, the agency urged it to discharge the conductor citing that there was no evidence against him and that he was coerced by the Gurgaon Police to confess to the crime.
The agency named Kumar, who is currently on bail, in its final report filed before Additional Sessions Judge Jasbir Singh Kundu but did not array him as an accused.

"It is prayed since no evidence by the CBI against conductor Ashok Kumar for his involvement in any manner in the murder..., this court may kindly discharge him in this case," the CBI said.
It said that during the CBI investigation, no evidence had come to substantiate Kumar's involvement in committing the murder "in the ground floor washroom/toilet of the school or having attempted to commit sexual assault on the victim before committing murder".
"No blood stain was found on his clothes or his person before he had lifted the victim. Kumar's presence inside the washroom has been explained and found to be justified and true based on independent version of several witnesses and minute analysis of CCTV footages," the agency said.

The agency said during the CBI custody, the bus conductor denied that he had committed the murder.

"He (Kumar) further stated that he had confessed to have committed the murder...under coercion and threat of concerned police officers of Gurgaon police. He further stated that he was tortured and beaten by Gurgaon Police officers," it said.
The victim's body was found with the throat slit in the washroom of the school on September 8 last year.
The CBI took up the case from the Gurgaon Police on September 22, following a nationwide outrage over the gruesome killing.
