Schools told to follow RTE norms

District Magistrate N P Singh today directed private schools including affiliated with CBSE and ICSE board to follow the Right to Education act and admit poor students.
The DM directed the schools to ensure fee fixation as per rules and submit details to fee fixation committee and get approval.
Singh said complaints were being received about arbitrary unjust fee hikes by private schools.
He also directed the schools to get the fitness certificates of all school buses from transport department.
Transport department had seized several school buses and released after they procured the fitness certificates.
The DM said there is 10 per cent reservation for children of farmers and authority employees.
Farmers were complaining that schools are not admitting their children, he said and warned that lease deeds would be cancelled if norms were not followed.
Schools were also told to install CCTV cameras for security and take measures for women and female students' safety. Private schools were asked adopt villages and provide free education to deserving students.
DM has also directed the schools to provide school books and stationery at cheap rates and free to poor students.
Singh also flagged off 20 mobile clinic vans at Chief Medical Officer's office. These clinics will conduct health checkups at construction sites and provide medical treatment.
