A senior police officer said, trouble started after some of the hostel students playing cricket allegedly beat up some adivasi boys playing football nearby in the playground adjacent to the hostel during afternoon.
As two of the three boys, allegedly hit with cricket bat, were given first aid at adjacent J N Memorial Hospital and released, they went back to their area and informed about the alleged assault and a mob, armed with bows and arrows, came close to the hostel compound and started throwing bricks.
Talks were on between the leaders of the tribal community living in the area for decades, local councillor, police officers and the hostel authorities.
