Security stepped up in Jaipur ahead of FIPIC summit

Security has been stepped up across Jaipur as the 'Pink City' is set to host the 2nd Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit tomorrow which will witness participation by heads of state and government officials from 14 resource-rich nations.
Over 2000 policemen including seven Superintendent of Police rank, 15 additional SPs, senior traffic SPs, officers of intelligence bureau have been deployed and they have made drills at the main event site of RamBagh Palace, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) N R K Reddy told PTI.
The security of VVIPs and Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will address the summit right from the airport, venue, tourist places, and dignitaries' return have been made fool proof, he said.

"Check posts have been created around Jaipur, the state capital, and frisking of suspected persons and vehicles was being made for last few days, ADG said.
Meanwhile, maintaining that Public transportation would not be disturbed or affected by the VVIPs movements by and large, he said that there might be a minimum inconvenience to public transport due to any pressure of traffic.
VVIPs would be staying at two hotels; RamBagh palace, Jai Mahal Palace, and they have plan to visit tourist places like Amber Fort, Hawamahal, City Palace, he said, adding the traffic diversion for public might be created as per the exigency.

Barricades have been put up on some routes and the places where VVIPs' will stay would be cordoned, Reddy said.
However a famous annual "Diggi Yatra" by pilgrims from Jaipur's religious place to Diggi-Kalyanji, 60 kms away from the state capital, would be a matter of concern for traffic diversion, Reddy said, adding the pilgrims' yatra would not be affected but there would be diversion route for them tomorrow.
Jaipur Police Commissionerate also held a series of meetings on security purpose with its senior cops in last few days.
