The Sensex, which had surged 787.89 points in the past four sessions, gathered another 63.82 points, or 0.23 per cent, to close at 26,851.05. The gauge hit session's high of 26,930.23 in the opening trade on sustained capital inflows, amid renewed optimism after announcement of reforms in oil and gas coal sectors.
The Sensex gained 5,590.42 points, or 26.37 per cent, in the entire Samvat 2070.
The rally in the Muhurat session was led by stocks of oil and gas, consumer durables, capital goods, healthcare, FMCG, PSUs, realty, metal and banking.
