Sharad Yadav writes to MPs against SC order on quota

Janata Dal(U) has written to MPs from all parties against "the anti-reservation mindset of the judiciary" while opposing the Supreme Court ruling that there can be no quota in appointment to faculty posts in speciality and super speciality courses in medical colleges.
Seeking to make it a big issue ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament convening from August 5, party President Sharad Yadav has urged the members to unite across party line and stand against this judgement.
"With great pain and anguish, I am writing this to you with regard to anti-reservation move in the country. I am shocked and sad to read the judgment of Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court (Faculty Association of AIIMS vs. Union of India against the reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC).

"The matter, which has huge national importance affecting 80 percent population of this country, was heard and disposed of in such a manner.... This judgment clearly brings forward the anti reservation attitude and hidden motive to dilute the reservation policy by this government," he said.
" I think that this is the most dangerous and anti- SC/ST/OBC movement since Independence. If it is not stopped, then one day will come that reservation will only be in application in group C and D posts", he said.
Holding that this matter has very wide repercussions, Yadav alleged it was fought with very little importance and utmost negligence by the government.

"By this judgment the reservation is not only diluted but practically scrapped," Yadav charged in the letter.
A five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir had pronounced its verdict on July 18 on a plea of the Faculty of Association of AIIMS.
