"Efforts should be made to defuse the situation and safety of the outside students should be ensured," the Union Minister of State for External Affairs told reporters here.
Stressing that India has adopted a "constructive" approach to solve all the outstanding issues with Pakistan, Singh said the neighbouring country was not reciprocating the gestureand continued to shift its stand on important issues like terror and border disputes.
Meanwhile, a delegation of ex-servicemen, led by its Palampur unit president C D S Guleria, met the minister and submitted a charter of demands, detailing the problems faced by the retired soldiers in this hill state.
The minister assured the deputation that their genuine grievances would be forwarded by him to the Defence Minister.
