But for Delhiites, it was a hot and humid today with the mercury rising three notches above normal to settle at 36.4 degrees Celsius. Humidity in air fluctuated between 61 and 92 per cent.
The minimum of 26.8 degrees on a partially cloudy day in the national capital was normal for this time of the year, the MeT department added.
Heavy rain lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh with monsoon remaining normal in the state. Una, on the foothills of the Shivaliks, was the wettest place in the HP with 118mm rainfall. Dharamsala and Bangana both received 54mm rain.
It has also cautioned pilgrims undertaking the perilous Sri Khand Mahadev Yatra of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some locations on the Yatra trail between July 17 and 19.
In Uttar Pradesh, the toll this season from rain-related incidents rose to 139 after three more persons were killed in Allahabad today.
As monsoonal activity continues unabated in the state, moderate to heavy rain or thundershower occurred at a few places in eastern UP and widely in its western part.
The chief amount of rainfall was recorded at Karhal (120mm) and Kanpur Rural (110mm).
Ganga was flowing close to the danger mark from Fatehgarh to Kanpur while the Sharda had breached the danger mark at Paliakalan in Lakhimpur district and was still rising.
Light to moderate rainfall occurred in parts of Rajasthan where Dausa recorded 110mm rain.
Rainfall, which was well-distributed in Kota division, also hit many places in Jaipur and Bharatpur and isolated areas of Ajmer division.
Rainfall though eluded the states of Punjab and Haryana despite despite overcast conditions across the two neighbouring states.
