Calling the Congress-led Karnataka government as "non performing", Leader of Opposition in theAssembly Jagadish Shettar today said Chief MinisterSiddaramiah has the credit of borrowing the highest amount of loanin the history of the state.
Criticising the government for its "failures", he said there had been no progress and the government is "lifeless".
Speaking during the discussion on the state budget, he said expectation was that Siddaramaiah who has presented 10 budgets would maintain fiscal discipline in his eleventh budget but he has borrowed highest amount of loan so far.
Listing out the loans borrowed during the regimes of different ChiefMinisters starting from S M Krishna, he said Siddaramaiah in three years had secured morethan Rs 50,000 crore as loan.
"Total loan on the state including other's tenure ismore than Rs 2,08,000 crore now, while total outlay of ourbudget is only about Rs 1,63,000 crore," he added.
Questioning as to why fiscal discipline had notbeen maintained despite long experience as Finance Minister,he said Siddarmaiah has not been able to prove himself as "efficient" in achieving this.
As he accused the Chief Minister of trying to put the burden of loan on succeeding governments, Siddaramaiah said "we will come back, don't worry."
Responding to this, Shettar said that Congress members were in the midst of a "daydream" and they can never come back to power after completing remaining period of their tenure, and BJP will definitely come to power.
Hitting out at the government for not spending theamount allocated in the last budget, he said in so many casesafter the budget in March, executive orders were issued only in October or November.
"It is a non performing government, there is noprogress that has been achieved under its rule, it is lifeless," he added.
He also questioned why more importance had not been given to the agriculture and its alliedsectors and demanded a white paper on Upper Krishna Project.
Claiming that the state's progress had declined at all levels, Shettar also pointed out that allocation to important sectors like agriculture, education, power among others has decreased compared to last year.
