Sikh holy book found damaged by rodent in Punjab

Amid a series of incidents of desecration in the state, a Sikh holy book was found damaged in Mandheran Kalan village in this district and following a police probe a rodent was ascertained to be responsible for it.
The incident came to light yesterday when Gurdwara Granthi (priest) Raj Singh informed the village Panchayat in Bagapurana area about the damage to Guru Granth Sahib following which the incident was reported to the police, police said today said.
Police said after a thorough probe it was found that the damage to the holy book was caused by a mouse.
The 'bir' (religious scripture) of the holy Guru Granth Sahib will be deposited at Khadoor Sahib, they said.
Village Sarpanch Daljit Singh said the 'Granthi' has been asked to be more vigilant in future.
