Silver futures traded 0.46 per cent higher at Rs 36,321 per kg today as participants created fresh speculative positions positions, tracking gains in global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March month contracts was up by Rs 166, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 36,321 per kg in business volume of 5,287 lots.
Also, the white metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 161, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 36,945 per kg in 37 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators in tune with gains in bullion in global markets as low levels spurred buying activity, influenced silver prices in futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver increased 0.40 per cent to USD 15.74 an ounce in London.
