Though SIT head DIG Mohammad Iqbal did not arrive here, other officers like Chittoor Superintendent of Police G Srinivasa Rao and others arrived and began the questioning at Bhavanipuram police station.
The questioning continued after 7.30 pm, but no SIT official came out of the police station to reveal anything to reporters.
Though SIT had issued notices to 12 telecom companies earlier, only representatives of Uninor, Tata Docomo and Idea attended today's questioning.
The Andhra Pradesh state government had alleged that TRS leaders had tapped the phones of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu about conversations with some TRS leaders during elections to the Telangana Legislative Council in May.
The AP Water Resources Minister Devneni Umamaheswara Rao lodged a complaint at Bhavanipuram police station in Vijaywada, based on which the police registered a case.
Later, the AP government constituted a SIT to probe the issue after which the SIT issued notices to 12 telecom companies.
