Khatikan area of Delhi Gate police station had some anxious moments last night after one of the six persons injured in the clash succumbed.
Senior district and police officials, however, managed to defuse the tension and persuaded family members of the deceased to perform the last rites without bringing the dead body home.
DIG, Aligarh Range, Govind Agrawal said that the victim's family would be meeting Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on November 18 as they were seeking more financial assistance.
The district authorities said that Rs 10 lakh ex-graita was the upper limit admissible at the district level and any further enhancement could only be done at the Chief Minister's level.
The DIG said that two out of the six persons who were named in the FIR have been arrested and another seven persons were arrested on the basis of preliminary inquiries.
Section 144 (prohibitory orders), which was promulgated all over the city, will remain in force till November 30, he said.
"District authorities were in touch with the leaders of all political parties to ensure that complete normalcy," he said.
